Meet Mike Chaundy – List Building Expert

July 11, 2011

After all members received payment on June 30th, there seems to be a new turn in the program.

The last update to the J2BAM site was on  July 2nd, 2011.  Admin went for 6 days without any contact to the membership.   Then, on July 8th, he sent a mass email to membership saying he has been ill but was adding an assistant to help get things back up to speed.  As of today, while I am writing this amendment, there has been no further contact from the admin.  He is not answering direct emails, which he did immediately before.

To me, the lack of communication is not acceptable.  I have been heavily promoting J2BAM for over 3 months but, at this time, I am putting all my advertisements on pause.  I recommend all members do the same.

So, although Mr. Chaundy was very approachable in the beginning, he has stopped responding – please take note of that while reading this interview.

Recently I was granted an interview with Mike Chaundy.  Who is Mike Chaundy?  He is a list building expert and owner of the recently launched program “Just 2 Bucks A Month”.  In this brief interview, I wanted to get to know a little bit more about the man behind the program and more about the program itself.

1.  Who is Mike Chaundy, please tell us a little about yourself:

Based in Oxford, UK. in my fifties but think I’m still 29, divorced, with one 14-year-old son. With my ex-wife built a “real-world” business,
starting with $30,000 and over 10 years built a $2 million turnover, with assets of nearly a million, and created 24 jobs, in the print industry.

2.  What is your background in Internet marketing?

I started 3 years ago by joining GDI when it was way too late.  Paid $75 to join someones “team” and never managed to get in touch with them again (he’s quite a big name and still around).  Spent thousands of dollars joining things that never worked, nearly got taken for $6,800 by one of the “big dog” marketers, and finally realized that there was absolutely nothing that  was working …

3.  What was your inspiration for developing Just 2 Bucks A Month?

As above – there was absolutely nothing out there for the ordinary person that was real, affordable and offered anyone prepared to put in a bit of effort the chance to actually build a list and hopefully make some money.

4.  What keeps Just 2 Bucks A Month a legal program?

You are paying a subscription to a membership program.

5.  Is there a particular reason you manually confirm all new accounts before sending the affiliate url?

Two reasons, really, which also tie in with your next question. When you set up something completely new and different, you have no idea whether 20 people, 2,000 people or 200,000 people will join.  As I am not in a financial situation to spend $25,000 on programmers purely speculatively, it was all set up for manual operation initially.  This gives me a lot of control to tweak things (which I do daily) and get everything exactly as I want it and working the way it should before we put the automation in, which will be added a bit at a time, and hopefully will be seamless – people should not see any differences, except hopefully a better service!  Operating manually also enables me to keep an eye on just who is joining (I have actually returned 3 people’s subscriptions as for various reasons I did not want them to be part of the program!) – and you would not believe the amount of people that sign-up under one name and e-mail address then pay under a completely different name and e-mail address – systems do have a bit of a problem coping with that sort of thing!

6.  Are there plans to automate this process to speed up the confirmation and delivery of the affiliate url.?

As above – but honestly, if someone embarking on a 15-month program cannot wait a few hours for their information they probably do not have the right mindset to succeed.  There are so many fraudsters out there offering people instant riches it puts people in completely the wrong place to seriously succeed through sustained effort over a period of time – because that is actually what it takes.

7.  Do you plan on making additions to J2BAM in the future?  I believe an auto responder has been mentioned.

There is an auto responder on your homepage. There will be no major additions to J2B – but it is step one in a planned 3-step progression, with 2 additional programs being added at a later date.

8.  Is J2BAM meeting or exceeding your expectations and do you think it is growing at a sustainable rate?

I guess it’s pretty much where I expected at the moment – we’re adding 10 – 12 members a day, which is a good, sustainable rate.

9.  What are the strengths of the program which will make it still be around in 10 years?

It’s main strength is, as we explain fully on the site, it’s financial sustainability – that’s where it differs from all the “ponzi” schemes on the net.  It’s affordable, do-able, and simple – and thus far, it’s proving to work!

10.  What are your long term goals for the membership, the program, and yourself at Just 2 Bucks a Month?

As I mentioned above, this is program one of 3, each one enabling greater earning potential – so people can, if they want, use one program as a feeder to the next, and so on.  But this is in the future – right now I really just want to make this work for all the membership and do everything I can to help the program – and with it the member’s lists and incomes -grow as much as possible, for as long as possible.  And I’m pretty darned determined to make that happen …

I, also, found this quote from Mike in the information on the website:  “Over the last 12 months I’ve been doing a series of surveys, asking people to get in touch and tell me what programs they were in that actually made them money, then I would be quite happy to sign up under them. The result?  The very best I got was “this looks like it might work”, but not one real person actually claimed to be making good money out of any single program on the whole of the Internet.”

It looks to me like Mr. Chaundy got tired of looking for a program which worked and decided to build one himself.  On Twitter his profile says:  “Dedicated to building the biggest mailing list on the net, and helping others to follow me.”

Just 2 Bucks A Month launched on March 24, 2011.  At the time I am writing this post, the membership base has grown to 539.   The membership information is refreshingly down-to-earth.  The promo material makes reference to retiring in 15 months, but once he grabs your attention, Mike give a realistic explanation of what you can expect.  You will find a down to earth analogy of what works and why you won’t make ten grand in the next thirty days.  If you thought that was what this program or Mike Chaundy is about, you are wrong.

Special Thanks to Karla Cross for help with this interview.

Added: July 10, 2o11

After 3 solid months of business with the J2BAM business model, it seems admin has stopped responding to emails.  Our core team has made marketing decisions based on this lack of communication.  Please proceed with caution.

  2. Peter Oakley says:

Hey Cathy, I just joined – on the strength of your interview. Worth a try, for $2/mo.x15=$30 total. Curious to know… this is a 2×15 matrix? Which means everyone below me needs to also get 2 more signups, 15 levels deep. I’m one of your signups. If you get more than 2 signups (I’m sure you will with this interview!), do those extra signups spill over to your referrals?

  3. Thanks for the kind words Peter.
Just 2 Bucks a Month is not a matrix, thank goodness. There will be no spillover.
I like your analogy 2×15=$30….if more people would look at it that way, this would explode quickly.
What my little team is doing is teaching everyone how to get those 2 sign ups for themselves. We really want everyone to learn how to succeed on their own. If people put their minds to it, it should be a breeze to get 2 sign ups, especially in an affordable program like this one.
If you need any help, there is a contact button at the top. I am happy to show you what is working for me.

  4. Yvette says:

Very informative, honest and to the point, Cathy.
So happy to have you on board! Welcome!

  5. John Bell says:

I try and keep my mouth shut if I don’t have anything nice to say these days, but this is really bothering me.. He says he wasn’t going to fork out the money to get it to ‘update instantly’ (IPN) but so many basic IPN scripts are way cheap, like LFM which is a full membership site including IPN and it’s only $300 for 5 licenses.. ($60 a site)… it really makes it difficult for me to want to join something that the site owner isn’t willing to invest even that small amount of money to make successful..

    • You have been really quiet lately John.
As I am not a program owner, I do not know the details or cost of running a specific script. I don’t even know what a script is….so, my non-techie self sent your response to Mike, the program owner, and here is his response:

“There are not, as far as I could ascertain, any “off-the-shelf” scripts which actually do the job as I want it done – this, rightly or wrongly, will need to be a totally original and unique programming job. If I could get what I need for this site for $300 dollars I would bite someone’s hand off …”

Mike seems perfectly confident in his venture and seems to be willing to answer any and all questions that we posed to him. I would encourage anyone with doubts to reach out and make contact with him.

  6. John Bell says:

Well if he can’t spend the money on it at least he shows he is spending the time and energy, great qualities :D

One of those off the shelf scripts can be customized in ways he seems to know how to do, but I’m not going to argue the point.. My first membership site couldn’t process payments either, and I don’t think that makes it bad or even that I didn’t have drive or care for the site.. see.. here I am eating my words again :) lol

  7. Hey Cathy, just found your interview above with Mike. Great job (and a special thanks to Ms Karla!)!

I love J2BAM. When I saw it the first time, it was like a lightbulb going off.

Keep up the good work and let’s ROCK IT!

    Nina

  8. DAVE says:

Cathy ilike youe stuff could you get back to me please !

    Thanks Dave

  9. rochie says:

    Cathy,

I joined last Saturday under Karla Cross. Until now, I haven’t received any info about my membership other than the link to confirm my registration and to make my payment. After making the payment, I haven’t heard a thing.
It’s been five long days of waiting. I did read his answer about the waiting period. But for a networker like us, time is gold, and we want to keep on rolling or be on the go. For snail people it’s okay. They can wait… This is the longest wait I ever had.

    • I totally agree with you Rochie. Hopefully, Mr. Chaundy went on holiday and forgot to tell us all.
I am keeping my eyes and ears open for any new information.

  10. Rave Hester says:

    Hi Cathy;
Like rochie, I to have joined, pd my fees, and have heard nothing back. I joined 6/28/11, money cleared 6/30/11, waited before trying to contact. Have sent 2 emails requesting information packet and have had no response. Is there away you could contact and find out what is going on.

    Rave Hester

    • Hello Rave – All members received this email today from admin.

Sorry everyone – especially the new members – but I have been out of action for the last week with a pretty severe back problem. The doctor seems to think it’s got something to do with 14 hours a day, seven days a week, for the last 4 months, sat at this computer ….

However, it’s now getting a lot more comfortable, and hopefully from tomorrow I can start catching up on everything that’s got behind in the last few days, which I promise to do just as quickly as humanly possible! I’ve also started training someone, who will be able to take over if there are any future problems.

      Admin

Although the entire questionable situation could have been avoided if admin had sent this email 5 days ago, at least, we have heard something – I will take this as a good sign.
