The Power Of A Social Community

I mentioned in my last post, my mother suffered an inter-cranial hemorrhage and was hospitalized for 4 days.  As an online business owner, I was very lucky to have a business partner who covered for me so I could take care of family matters.  What I didn’t realize, at the time,  was the outpouring of support I was receiving from the social community.  My business partner hinted that there was some power surfing going on at our site but I truly had no idea the numbers our members were putting up.

I digress – this all started with a little mention in a Skype room that perhaps if everyone would surf at Hot Flash Hits it would lift my spirits.  This is the power of a social community.  You are capable of getting the word out about events, good or bad, in a timely manner.  You are capable of joining forces with others to create a buzz in any industry.  You are capable of building a reputation for yourself with the click of a keyboard.  You are capable of doing AMAZING things if you are Social in a Community!

Not only did it lift my spirits to hear the community was surfing while I was gone, our members at Hot Flash Hits spread the word to others and it became a little surfing party.  The community pulled together to lighten the heart of one person and ended up shattering all our previous surfing records.  Talk about making me smile— yup, I am still smiling.  I am overjoyed to know this community cares.  I have never felt this much support and love from people I have never met in person.  It is amazing the bond you can develop if you work closely in a social community.    Thank you to my HFH Family.
